Who Made Your FAUNA Design?

GRISEL
Founder, Designer, and Patternmaker

Born in Southern California to Mexican parents, Grisel began her love for design at the age of 5 when she began hand sewing outfits for her dolls. At the age of 8 she designed her first outfit, a leotard and a pair of bell bottoms made from a psychedelic print. She carefully chooses the fabrics to use for each of her sketches and then goes on to create a hand pattern that can be cut and handed off to FAUNA's Sewing Artists. Aside from designing and managing FAUNA, Grisel is a proud mother of 2 handsome boys who light up her world.

DELIA
Sewing Artist
Born in Autlán, Jalisco, México, Delia began her love of sewing at the young age of 10 when she took her grandmother's purple fringed "rebozo" (shawl) and made it into a dress using her mother's sewing machine. She recalls being a mischievous little girl who just loved to create. Delia came to the U.S. at the age of 14 with her mother and siblings and began her career in fashion as a young adult. Her passion aside from creating clothing is to cook. Her favorite dish to cook is birria.

CARMEN
Sewing Artist

Born in Michoacán, México, Carmen came to the U.S. in 1990 to reunite with her husband who had arrived in the states years before. She remembers what a culture shock it was for her. In search of a better life she began sewing in the swimsuit industry and fell in love. Carmen states she is happiest when she is creating on a sewing machine. Aside from sewing she loves to hike, especially when she takes her dog Maya.

FELIX
Marking, Grading, and Cutting
Born in Veracruz, México Felix began his career in the denim industry at the young age of 10 while living in the state of Puebla, where he grew up. He came to L.A. in his 30's to follow his younger brother. Felix loves grading because he's a fan of math and manipulating shapes. When he's not working he enjoys playing basketball, reading, and dancing. His favorite book is "Cien años de Soledad" by Colombian novelist Gabriel Garcia Márquez.
